I am the grandmother of a delightful boy who happens to have Down Syndrome. I, also, teach three year olds in a half day program at my church.

I'm a mother of two young girls. My oldest daughter enjoyed HWT at school during her preschool year, but her new class doesn't use these techniques. I was so impressed with her experiences last year that I purchased tools to use at home to continue exposing her to HWT as she continues to grow. I can't wait to get my younger daughter into it when the time is right.

I have a 2nd grader who is bilingual. He is learning to read and write Russian at the same time that he is learning to read and write English. He's having a lot of difficulty with letter formation, letter reversals and a visual memory of what the upper and lower case letters look like. He also writes right to left on occasion, although I know the Russian alphabet is left to right like English.…

I am an Occupational Therapist - and have no desire to reinvent the wheel. I have so many kiddos on my caseload that are diagnosed with Autism. Does anyone have a social story or similar that addresses what lines are for in lined paper? I've read the instructions on how to write a social story. I just can't get it to sound right.…

I am a mother of 3: 3rd grader, 1st grader, and preschooler. I took the HWT workshop two years ago. This year I will be working in my sons' classrooms as the handwriting teacher. Neither teacher has any interest themselves but they're happy to have me come in 2-3 times a week. I am looking for help & ideas on how to implement HWT in this situation.

Hi,
I have just begun to teach HWT with my first graders. I only have 4 mini chalkboards to have the kiddos do the wet/dry method before doing this in the workbook. Any ideas how to make this work teaching the whole class? I don't have time in the day to call over 4 at a time. Thanks for your help.— Wendy

The latter part of this week, we took a break from letters and did a shape lesson. Triangles and diamonds are made from straight lines also. First, we saw how easy/difficult it was to make the two shapes with our fingers. Then we observed the shapes constructed from our wooden peices.
After a discussion on how the two shapes differ, we went on a scavenger hunt.…— Jane Foster
We are in our third year of homeschooling. My daughter has some fine motor delays, so we're just now in the second half of the K book.
She had huge difficulties with the letter K. We are now having issues with "y" as well. It seems to be something with having to re-start a new line and make it intersect an existing line at an angle. Ideas for how to help her with this?…— Difficulty with lowercase "y"
