Handwriting & Keyboarding: Standards
for the Production and Presentation
of Writing

Both handwriting and keyboarding are skills students need to master to produce effective written work. These two skills work together in the classroom to create an engaged, balanced, and successful learning environment.

The Common Core State Standards

The Common Core State Standards include English Language Arts (ELA) and Math skills that increase expectations in grades K–5 for student writing and reading.

Pre-K Standards

For children to reach the standards set forth in the Common Core State Standards, especially the rigorous demands of kindergarten, they need to have a solid foundation. That foundation is built in Pre-K.
