This interactive seminar will look at the essential skills for young children as they begin formal schooling. Learn the key developmental areas of most readiness standards, and discover Pre-K readiness activities and strategies that inspire through playful and engaging learning.
Angie Kalman, OTR/L & Carol Rushing-Carr, MOT, OTR
Angie Kalman is a pediatric occupational therapist in her hometown of Boca Raton, FL. She is the owner of The Play Center, a pediatric therapy facility where she provides skilled occupational therapy intervention and specialized handwriting services. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy (BSOT) with highest honors from the University of Florida, she began her clinical career addressing the special needs of children in outpatient, school, and home settings. In addition to her certification as a Handwriting Specialist, Angela is certified through the University of Southern California and Western Psychological Services in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT).
Carol Rushing-Carr received her B.S. in Child Development from Northern Illinois University in 1980 and her Master's in Occupational Therapy from Texas Women's university in 1985. She has worked exclusively in pediatrics from neonates to 21 years. Carol owns a pediatric occupational therapy practice in Eastern Kentucky where helping children and families be successful with skills for a lifetime are her goal. Carol is certified as a pediatric Neurodevelopmental Treatment therapist, a certified Infant Massage Instructor and is, of course, Level One Certified with Handwriting Without Tears®. Carol has found great success using the HWT methods with students from Pre-K to high school.
